We found ourselves a cool, comfortable spot at an outdoor cafe and with cold drinks in hand, watched Saturday morning unfold with locals and tourists, alike.
After cooling off, we stopped in several other sights, mostly churches. There seem to be a lot of churches here. I especially enjoyed the Orthodox church with it's lovely old icons.
After a light lunch, we went to the monastery. There is a beautiful courtyard and an interesting museum. There has been a pharmacy operating there continuously since the 1300's. The original counter is in the museum, along with other artifacts from earlier times. We wandered a bit more, but by then the heat was getting to us, so we returned to our apartment for a siesta. We have mostly been lazy since.
At sunset, thousands of swallows fill the air over Dubrovnik. I guess they are feeding on some of those bugs that have been biting us. They are diving and chattering outside of our apartment, overlooking the old port.
